Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.
The group takes place over the course of several modules and follows the DBT skills workbook. We begin with mindfulness skills and integrate these skills into interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation skills, followed by distress tolerance.
